Looking for a quick, easy and budget-friendly lunch idea? Give this simple ham and cheese toastie a try in your air fryer!
I recently made one for lunch and it turned out absolutely blooming lovely – crispy on the outside, warm and cheesy on the inside. Best of all, it only takes a few minutes and uses ingredients most of us already have in the fridge.

What You'll Need
2 slices of bread
Butter (optional)
2 slices of ham
Grated or sliced cheese
Method
Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread (optional).
Place one slice of bread in the air fryer basket.
Add the ham and cheese.
Top with the second slice of bread.
Air fry at 180°C for around 4-6 minutes.
Carefully flip the toastie and cook for a further 2-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Cooking times may vary slightly depending on your air fryer, so keep an eye on it the first time you make one.
Savvy Tip
If your bread is particularly light, place a cocktail stick in each corner to stop the top slice blowing off during cooking.
Variations to Try
Why stop at ham and cheese?
Some other tasty combinations include:
Tuna melt
Cheese and onion
Ham, cheese and tomato
Chicken and mozzarella
Leftover roast chicken and stuffing
Pepperoni pizza toastie
